Business Start-up Tips

Here are some Start-Up Tips for you if you're planning a new business venture. 1 in 5 new businesses fail, but I guess that means that 4 out of 5 do ok! You don't want to be just good; you want to be great. Here are some top tips for setting you off on your way.

  1. Get some free support: Business Gateway provides excellent support for new (and existing) businesses. Use their free help and advice; they may even be able to help you get a grant.

  2. Tell the world: well, start with your nearest and dearest, quickly moving onto your circle of friends, colleagues etc. Chances are they will help spread the word and be early supporters and cheerleaders.

  3. Create a business plan: sorry, you need to do one, which should cover market research and financials; both are essential to test your proposition and likely business success.

  4. Choose a business name carefully: make sure your domain is available and a name that you will stick with as you don't want to have to change it in the future.

  5. Develop your brand: you need logos for social media and create a website; before rushing into this, ensure you have a well thought out plan of what your brand will stand for and how it should look, rather than just getting a pretty logo.

That's enough for the tips. We have lots of other articles on this website that could be helpful to you if you are thinking of starting a business.

Final thought - enjoy the experience of being new - new is exciting, don't hide your newness; once you're long-established, then you can act as such.
