Trusted marketing partner for Scottish charities

Scottish charities do vital work. But communicating that work clearly — to funders, supporters, volunteers and the wider public — takes time, skill and consistency that most charity teams simply don’t have spare.

I work with Scottish charities as a trusted marketing partner — helping them raise awareness, secure funding, and engage supporters through clear storytelling, strong digital content and effective PR. I understand the pressures charities face: limited budgets, limited internal resources, and the constant need to demonstrate impact to multiple audiences at once.

I offer discounted rates to registered Scottish charities across all services — and I’m always happy to talk through ideas before any commitment is made.

The best first step is a free 30-minute conversation.

What I understand about charity marketing

Charity marketing is different from business marketing in ways that matter. The audiences are more complex — funders, donors, volunteers, beneficiaries and the public all need different messages. The language needs to be authentic and evidence-based, not promotional. And every pound spent on marketing needs to be justifiable in terms of the impact it generates.

I’ve worked with charities and not-for-profit organisations across Scotland for over a decade — from small community groups to nationally recognised organisations. That experience shapes how I approach every charity project: starting with what needs to be achieved, not what services I can sell.

How I support Scottish charities:

Fundraising campaigns and appeals

I work with charities to create campaigns that connect — shaping the message, handling the media and creating supporting content that strengthens funding applications and donor appeals.

Recent work includes the Save Our Steamship appeal for the Steamship Sir Walter Scott Trust, which raised £750,000 and secured £130,000 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The campaign succeeded because it combined a compelling human story with national media coverage, strong photography and a clear call to action — all managed by one trusted person from brief to delivery.

Video and film

Video is one of the most powerful tools available to charities — for fundraising, volunteer recruitment, grant applications and awareness campaigns. A well-made film helps funders and supporters understand the value of your work and the real difference it makes in a way that written reports and statistics rarely can.

I’ve produced charity films for organisations including Camphill Blair Drummond, Fife Carers Centre, the Volunteer Tutors Organisation, Friends of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs, and many others across Scotland. Each film is planned around your specific goals and the audience it needs to reach.

Photography

Authentic photography helps supporters connect with your work and clearly see the difference their support makes. I work with charities to build flexible image libraries for campaigns, websites and social media — capturing the energy of events, documenting impact, and creating images that tell the right story to the right audience.

I’ve provided photography for Cancer Support Scotland, Friends of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs, and a wide range of community and charitable organisations across Scotland.

Websites

I build Squarespace websites for Scottish charities that are designed to inspire action and make supporting your cause straightforward — with secure donation tools, clear pages that explain your work, and a structure that helps more people find, understand and support what you do.

Every site is mobile-friendly, easy for your team to manage, and built to perform well in search — so your charity is visible to the people looking for organisations like yours.

PR and media coverage

I have strong media relationships across Scottish national and regional outlets — built over decades working in and alongside Scottish media. I help charities identify what’s genuinely newsworthy, shape the story, and get it in front of journalists and editors who will cover it.

Strong photography and video significantly improve coverage rates — which is why having one person who handles PR alongside visual content gives charity clients a consistent advantage over those who manage PR and visual content separately.

Ongoing support

For charities that need consistent marketing support, a monthly retainer gives you planned, joined-up activity across all the disciplines above — without the cost and commitment of a full-time hire. Most charity retainer relationships begin with a specific project or campaign and develop naturally from there.

Scottish charities I’ve worked with

I’ve provided marketing, PR, photography, video and website support to a wide range of Scottish charities and not-for-profit organisations — including:

Camphill Blair Drummond, Fife Carers Centre, the Volunteer Tutors Organisation, Friends of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs, the Steamship Sir Walter Scott Trust, Cancer Support Scotland, The Maid of the Loch, The Great Trossachs Forest, The Preshal Trust, The Three Lochs Way, The West Highland Way Trust, The Volunteer Tutors Organisation and the West Highland Way Trust.

Each organisation is different — in size, in focus, in audience and in need. The approach is always the same: understand the organisation properly first, then put the right things in place.
