Camphill Blair Drummond
Camphill Blair Drummond is a remarkable charitable community just outside Stirling, providing a supportive and enriching environment for adults with learning disabilities. Established in 1975, the charity is built around strong values and offers a unique way of life that combines residential care, meaningful work and a deep sense of belonging, all set within the grounds of Blair Drummond House.
I was commissioned to produce a film that could authentically tell their story. The aim was to create a warm, visually engaging piece of content that would raise awareness of the charity’s work, support fundraising activity and help attract new volunteers.
Capturing community, not just a location
From the outset, it was clear that Camphill Blair Drummond is much more than a care setting — it is a living, working community. To reflect this, I spent time with residents and staff, observing daily life and building trust before filming began.
We captured creative workshops, shared meals and everyday moments, alongside the beautiful outdoor spaces where so much of the community’s life takes place. The focus throughout was on honest, human-centred storytelling, allowing the community's voices and experiences to shape the narrative rather than imposing a scripted message.
A film that supports awareness and fundraising
The finished film offers viewers a genuine insight into life at Camphill Blair Drummond — from friendships and achievements to the calm, creativity and care that define the estate. It is now used to introduce the charity to new audiences and support ongoing awareness and fundraising efforts.
As part of the project, I also produced a series of photographs to complement the video, helping to build a flexible content library for use across digital platforms.
It was a privilege to help share the story of Camphill Blair Drummond, and I’m proud that the film continues to support the charity’s mission and values.
