Allanwater Brewhouse
Allanwater Brewhouse is an award-winning craft brewery and pub in Bridge of Allan, known for traditional brewing methods, modern flavours and a welcoming local atmosphere.
I’ve worked closely with founder Douglas Ross for several years, most recently delivering a new Squarespace website for the brewery. The project brought together photography, video, an integrated online shop, and a brewery tour booking system — all designed to reflect the business's character and make it easier for customers to engage.
Understanding the business first
Before building the new website, I spent time getting to know the brewery with Douglas. The aim was to ensure the site captured the Brewhouse’s cosy, friendly feel, rather than just listing information.
We conducted multiple photography sessions to create a consistent visual style across the site, along with a short homepage video to introduce visitors to the pub's and brewery's atmosphere.
Website functionality that supports customers
A key part of the project was developing a smooth, customer-friendly system for brewery tour bookings. This includes automated confirmations, reminder texts and follow-up review requests.
The system integrates directly with the website and shows the flexibility of the Squarespace platform I use — allowing specialist tools to be added where needed without complicating the experience for the client or the customer.
The website is easy for the Allanwater team to update, with simple tools for promoting regular events, themed nights and the latest brewing news.
A wider collaboration
Alongside the brewery website, I’ve also worked with Douglas on the Discover Bridge of Allan community website, where he serves as a Trustee. It’s been a pleasure supporting both projects and helping strengthen the digital presence of local businesses and community initiatives.
