Website Healthcheck

In this website health check article, I recommend a few quick tasks to see how your site performs. Essentially they are housekeeping tips and ensuring that your website acts as your 'shop window', which is appealing to potential customers.

5 Ways to Improve your Website

1) The website accurately represents your business - imagine you're a first time visitor to your company and website, now take a good look at the site through fresh eyes. Does it convey what you do? Does it provide compelling reasons to engage? Does it have a clear call to action? If not, get fixing!

2) Time to proof read - get someone you trust to check the website, ensuring all words make sense, there are no mistakes, the buttons work, etc. They can also recommend any content they think should be added, etc.

3) Check for broken links - if you're linking to other sites or pages on your site (and you should be), then use a system like this one broken link-checker to find any that no longer work and then fix them.

4) Review Google Analytics - or for our customers, the in-built Squarespace analytics, which is helpful to check traffic, trends and the source of traffic.

5) Plan to add Content - if you're not regularly updating your website, you run the risk that Google penalises you. Plan a content campaign and schedule through a blog or similar.

Final thought

Your website is an essential part of your marketing. SEO drives 1000% more traffic than organic social media. Your website should be optimised to attract potential customers and engage them to produce enquiries and sales. That's what we do for our customers!
